Naviance and the Common Application Forge New Ground in College Application Technology

WASHINGTON, DC -- (MARKET WIRE) -- 03/01/06 -- At the height of the college admissions process, as students everywhere await the verdict on their carefully prepared applications, Naviance and the Common Application announce expanded functionality that will enable high school counselors to electronically submit transcripts and school profiles to Common Application member colleges and universities next fall.

Following a successful first year in which Naviance client schools have been electronically preparing and submitting Common Application school reports and teacher recommendations through Counselor's Office from Naviance, this expanded functionality marks the first time that high school students and counselors will move to an entirely paperless application process.

"Students have enjoyed the convenience of on-line college applications for a decade. Now Naviance and Common Application extend this capability to counselors and teachers," said Stephen M. Smith, CEO of Naviance.

Monica Inzer, Dean of Admission and Financial Aid at Hamilton College, said, "I love technology, and I think anything that can help schools and counselors work more closely with admissions offices as partners on behalf of students is a great improvement to the process."

Eric Kaplan, Dean of Admission and Financial Aid at Lehigh University, agrees. "We receive the vast majority of our applications on-line through the Common Application. Giving high schools the option of delivering transcripts and recommendations electronically is an exciting development that will benefit everyone," he said.

According to Rob Killion, Executive Director of the Common Application, almost three-quarters of a million applications will be submitted during this admission cycle.
